莎岡在1980年的訪問早有她對感情的定見：


"I think love is like an illness, an intoxication. Sometimes I've been intoxicated for three or four years, but never more. I think that people can be happy together for longer than I used to believe, but I still don't think it can be forever."
我覺得愛情就像是一種疾病，一種吸毒狀態。有時候，可以為期三、四年，但不會更久。情侶們幸福相守的時間已比我預期地更久，但我始終不信永永遠遠。
